About us

Circular Sustainability Solutions Private Limited (CSSPL) is a visionary venture aimed at enabling a circular economy for plastic in India. We an industry-owned-and-led, non-compete entity. In September 2019, an Industry Coalition (PACE) of over 30 companies, including Pepsi, Coca-Cola, Reliance, and Brillon (formerly SC Johnson), announced the establishment of CSSPL in partnership with Karo Sambhav. The ultimate goal of CSSPL is to ensure that no recyclable packaging material ends up in landfills by 2025.

Our Vision and Mission: The vision of CSSPL is to create a world where no recyclable packaging material ends up in landfills, and the environment is protected. To achieve this, our mission is to create a pan-India system for the collection and re-processing of plastic waste, catalyze innovation for recycling, create awareness on waste management, and formalise waste pickers and aggregators.

Our Story: CSSPL was born out of a shared concern for the environment and a desire to make a difference. The coalition of companies came together with Karo Sambhav to create a non-compete entity focused on plastic waste management. We knew that we could achieve more together than we ever could alone, and we were committed to working collaboratively to create a more sustainable future.

Our Shared Vision: From the outset, our coalition shared a clear and compelling vision: to create a world where no recyclable packaging material ends up in landfills. This shared vision has been the driving force behind everything we do, and it continues to inspire us to push the boundaries of what is possible.

Our Unique Approach: At CSSPL, we believe that the key to enabling a circular economy for plastic waste is through collaboration. We work closely with brands, aggregators, recyclers, and other stakeholders to develop innovative solutions that meet the needs of everyone involved. Our approach is holistic, encompassing infrastructure development, awareness creation, and upliftment and formalization of aggregator channels.

Services

Strengthening Pan-India Infrastructure for Collection and Re-processing plastic waste

We are working towards creating a pan-India system for the collection and re-processing of plastic waste. Our system is designed to meet the needs of all stakeholders, from waste pickers and aggregators to recyclers and manufacturers. Through this, we aim to ensure that no recyclable packaging material ends up in landfills by 2025.

We undertake projects to create and catalyze infrastructure for waste management where required. Our focus is on developing traceable, transparent, efficient collection systems and sorting systems which will support the secondary raw material creation for the industry. By doing so, we aim to create a circular economy for plastics, where waste is transformed into a valuable resource.

Awareness Creation and Formalization of Waste Pickers and Aggregators

We believe that awareness creation and education are crucial to changing attitudes and behavior around waste management. Our awareness activities are more focused on formalizing the informal aggregator channels, enabling them to operate in a more structured and efficient manner. Through our programs, we work closely with waste pickers and aggregators to provide them with training, resources, and support, helping them to understand the importance of digital transactions, traceability, and adherence to better standards of working. By doing so, we help them to secure assured business, ensure the health and safety of their workers, thereby improving their livelihoods.

Extended Producer Responsibility (EPR) Service

CSSPL's EPR service helps member brands to fulfill their responsibility for the disposal of plastic waste. We offer a comprehensive service that covers collection and recycling costs, ensuring that member brands can meet their extended producer responsibility obligations. By providing an EPR service, CSSPL helps in enabling a circular economy for plastics.
